New Year’s Resolutions For Your Home

New Year’s Resolutions For Your Home

The start of the year is a great time to set new habits and goals to make your home a more organized and efficient place. Here are a few resolutions you may want to adopt this 2016!

Make Your Bed In A Morning

Don’t you agree that there’s something nice about coming home from work to a tidy bedroom and a made-up bed? Spending just a couple of minutes in a morning to make up your bed can make a huge difference to your mood when you return in an evening. It’ll also make your space look and feel much more organized, and all it takes is a few short minutes!

Cut The Clutter

The New Year is a great time to de-clutter your home and make a fresh start. When you’re putting your Christmas decorations away, why not use that as an opportunity to arrange your storage space and create an organized home ready for the year. Make it a resolution to regularly de-clutter, so you don’t have a huge mound of unwanted items to sort through in 12 month’s time. Donate your unwanted clothes, recycle those boxes left over from Christmas and find clever storage boxes to hold and organize your items.

Be More Green

One resolution that we think everyone should adopt is being more green. Making your home more eco-friendly doesn’t require any sort of investment – all you need to do is be conscious and you can make a significant difference to your carbon footprint. Make it your 2016 goal to switch off the lights when you leave the room, air dry some of your clothes instead of tumble drying, and try composting your unwanted food to reduce the amount you add to landfill sites. These solutions will actually reduce your bills and save you money in the long run, and they require little to no extra effort!

Tidy Up At Night

A guaranteed way to increase your stress levels before the day has even begun is to wake up to an untidy home. Get into the habit of setting your dishwasher, tidying up your living room and wiping the surfaces before you go to bed, so you wake up to a clean and organized space and set up a positive vibe for the day ahead.

Delegate

If you struggle to keep up with your housework whilst juggling all your other responsibilities, don’t be afraid to delegate your tasks. Whether it’s ordering your groceries online instead of going to the store, taking your laundry to a laundromat instead of doing it yourself, or bringing in professional residential cleaners every week to spruce up your home (if you live around Metro Vancouver, don’t forget we offer home cleaning!), delegating certain tasks can help to free up more of your time so you can do the things you enjoy!
