If your kitchen surfaces are wiped, your toilet bowl is sparkling, and your floors dirt free, does that mean that your home is clean?
Well, the simple answer is no. Although your home may look clean on the surface, it’s likely ridden with germs in places that you least expect bluestacks for windows 7. For example, your kitchen sink and faucets harbor more bacteria than you realize, and in many households, your mobile phone and handbag will contain more germs than the toilet!
Here are a few of the places you forget to clean in your home, and which bacteria hotspots to look out for!
Coffee Machine
You probably use your coffee machine every day, but how often do you properly clean it? Although it’s easy to forget about it, horrible deposits will build up inside your coffee machine, which will then go into your coffee! Yuk! Make sure you clean the lid, carafe, and inside regularly to prevent a build-up and keep your coffee machine bacteria and mould free.
Bath Mat
When was the last time you cleaned your bath mat? If you’re not sure, then it’s time to stick it in the wash! Bath mats provide the perfect conditions for nasty germs to grow, as they’re warm and moist so a breeding ground for germs. Make sure to hang your bath mat to let it dry after you shower, and wash it on a hot cycle at least once a week to kill any bacteria.
Kitchen Sponge
Do you know how many germs lurk in your kitchen sponge? The answer is: THOUSANDS! Your kitchen sponge is in fact one of the dirtiest areas of your home, and this is particularly dangerous as the sponge will easily transfer bacteria to your food preparation areas, and cutlery. Disinfect sponges weekly by soaking them in bleach, or by microwaving them in water for 2 mins.
Kitchen Cabinet Handles & Door Knobs
Think about it – when you’re cooking, you’re grabbing ingredients from the fridge, chopping at the same time, handling raw meat and veg, and of course, spreading bacteria all over your kitchen! Remember to disinfect all surfaces before and after preparing food, and give your stove dials, fridge door, faucets, and cabinets a wipe down too.
Remote Control
Remote controls are actually incredibly unhygenic, and it’s the thing that most people forget to disinfect. Wipe down your remotes with an antibacterial wipe, especially if someone has been sick in your household recently!
Mobile Phone
According to various studies, 1 in 6 mobile phones contain traces of fecal matter! Yuk! That’s largely down to people not washing their hands after using the washroom and then using their phone. Wipe down your mobile phone at least once a week with a disinfectant wipe to kill any nasty germs.
