How To Make Your Home More Eco Friendly

How To Make Your Home More Eco Friendly

Living an eco friendly lifestyle is much easier than you think. From using energy-saving light bulbs, to separating your organics from your non-organics, to simply turning your heating down a few degrees, this all contributes to lowering your carbon footprint and helping to preserve our precious planet. But what if you’re doing these things already – have you reached your green capacity?

The answer is simple: not at all! There are tons of things you can do to live a green life. And, more so, tons of things you can do to make your home more eco friendly. Here’s a list of simple yet effective things you can do to help fight climate change, lead a sustainable life and save money at the same time!

Loft Insulation

Insulating your home can make it so much more energy efficient, which will reduce the amount of energy you use (thus helping the environment), plus reducing your energy bill (thus helping your wallet!). We all know that heat rises, so your loft is one of the most important areas of the home to insulate.

Recycled Materials

This may be in the form of wood furniture, organic fabrics or materials that are made locally rather than on the other side of the world. Buying products made in your country not only helps to support local designers, it cuts the emissions that are released from transporting the product around the world.

Eco Kettlehome more eco friendly

Every time you boil your kettle for a cup of tea, do you realize how much energy this actually uses? Well, the answer is A LOT! Kettles actually use a ridiculous amount of energy, so if you’re a compulsive tea or coffee guzzler, consider an eco kettle to help cut your energy consumption.

Air Dry

We use a crazy amount of energy tumble-drying our clothes, when really, air-drying is a much cheaper and more efficient alternative. Sure, in the winter months it’s unlikely that your huge quilt is going to dry properly hung outside, but in the summer sunshine, clothes actually dry quicker outside.

What do you do to make your home more eco friendly and to cut your carbon footprint? We’d love to know!
