There were some days you felt like it was never going to end. Yet here you are, with your renovation fully complete. We use the term “complete” loosely as there is still a huge post-construction clean that has to happen before you can move everything back in.
Renovation Dust
A lot of time, money and effort went into making your office aesthetically pleasing. You don’t want that to go to waste under a pile of renovation dust, now do you? Time to put on your dust mask, muster some elbow grease and bring your dusty, dirty space back to life. Luckily today for you we have compiled a top 5 checklist to help ensure you don’t miss even the tiniest speck of dust or dirt in your post-construction clean.
Top 5 Post- Construction Clean Checklist
#1 – Vacuum – Drywall dust gets everywhere…and we really mean EVERYWHERE!! You definitely don’t want to use your regular vacuum for this job unless you plan on throwing it out afterwards. Due to the post-construction dust being so fine a shop style vacuum with a filter to pick it all up is the way to go. Take it a step further and pick up one of those Hepa filters for an even cleaner job.
#2 – Wipe down – Renovation dust loves to collect on all hard surfaces from floor to ceiling and everything in between. A bucket of hot water with a touch of soap and a microfiber cloth should do the job nicely. The dust loves to get into all the tiniest places it can so don’t be afraid to be thorough.
#3 – Vents – Remove the covers to wash them with warm soapy water. This would also be a good time to replace any air vent filters with new ones. The fine dust accumulated during a renovation can seep into
your vents and continue to blow out weeks after you have cleaned and move back in. Fresh air vents will help lessen the amount getting through. As a result your furniture will be less dusty.
#4 – Windows – With some hot, hot water, a microfiber cloth and its dry window counterpart (such as this Norwex one) wipe down all your windows for a streak free clean. You want as much of that refreshing natural light coming in and streak free is the best way to achieve that.
Don’t forget about the window tracks as well. They may need to be vacuumed out first with your shop vac. Scrub them out with a toothbrush if you have to. Not forgetting to really dig into those corners for a full serious clean.

#5 – Bathrooms – Even if you haven’t renovated the bathroom itself, it would have likely seen a lot of extra foot traffic during the renovations. Hence, you will want to take the time to get it back up to it’s sparkling clean self again. Just ensure that the cloths you use for cleaning the washroom are not the same ones used to tidy up the rest of the office. YUK!
