Spring Cleaning Tips

Spring Cleaning Tips

There comes a time in the year when your home needs a good, intensive spring cleaning. Here are some of PCC Cleaning’s best spring cleaning tips to help you get through! And if you’re not keen on doing it yourself, why not give us a call and we can do it for you!

1) Clean Carpets & Upholstery

Your carpet will definitely need a good scrub after a winter’s worth of wear. Make sure you remember to vacuum everything first to get rid of as much dirt as possible. If you’re experimenting with a carpet cleaning machine, do a tester on a hidden piece of carpet or upholstery first – such as under the sofa.

After shampooing, place a small wax paper square under the legs of your furniture, which will prevent it from absorbing any moisture and protect your carpet too. Open the windows, air out the room and make sure you implicate a no-shoes policy after all of your hard work!

2) Dust

You’ll discover dust pretty much everywhere. Even in places you least expect. Dust your shelves, cabinets, furniture, skirting boards, air conditioning vents, blinds and around things such as bed frames. Oh, and don’t forget to catch those pesky cob webs hiding in the top corners of the room.

3) Clean your lights

Don’t forget about your light fixtures as these can collect dust and dirt over time. Use a sturdy step ladder to dust or wipe, and don’t forget to turn off the lights before doing so!

4) Scrub your appliances

Make sure to clean out your appliances. Scrub down your fridge to rid of any bacteria (inside and out), use an all natural oven cleaner (baking soda & lemon works great), clean out your dryer’s fluff filter and put a rinse solution through your dishwasher to get rid of any build up.

5) Protect your flooring

Apply a wash and wax cleaner to your wood flooring to give it that added protection against wear and tear. For laminated floors, use a floor cleaner that washes and shines so it looks squeaky clean.

6) Wash your glass

It’s amazing how clean glass around the house can give your home that extra sparkle. This means windows (inside and out, where possible), shower panes, mirrors and oven glass.
